After the flood, people spoke one language and began building a great city with a tower reaching toward the heavens. They wanted to make a name for themselves and keep control of their future.

God saw their pride and confused their language. The people could no longer understand each other, and the building stopped. They scattered across the earth.

For children, Babel is a story about pride, unity used in the wrong direction, and the limits of human self-importance. It also prepares families to talk about how God later brings people together through his own plan.
